Did you know that this region has a lot to offer in other seasons as well? Discover Bovec and the Soča Valley in the winter! This region is known as the outdoor sports paradise of Slovenia. Due to its location near the border, the ski resorts in Italy and Austria are also nearby. So you can enjoy your winter sports in no less than 3 countries and it is up to you to choose which area you want to enjoy today!
Near Hiša Lojz (only 10 minutes by car), you will find the cross-border ski resort Kanin-Sella Nevea. The snow stays here for a long season: from November to the beginning of May (some years even until June) you can ski here. Just before you enter the centre of Bovec (opposite the petrol station), take the Kanin cable car which will take you from 460 metres to 2,200 metres altitude. From here, you can take other lifts to the slopes. In total, this area has 30 km of slopes: six km of blue runs, twenty-two km of red runs and two km of black runs. You can ski towards the sunny side of Bovec and the other way to Sella Nevea in Italy.

Slovenia
Kranjska Gora: a nice and cosy village where the winter atmosphere can be experienced both during the day and in the evening. A visit to the atmospherically lit centre and the nearby lake Jasna are more than worthwhile. The skiing area is located at the centre and has approx. 20 km of slopes. Night skiing is possible every evening in the season and there is also a separate mountain where you can go sleighing.
Italy
Tarvisio – Monte Lussari: beautiful views and the idyllic pilgrimage church on the tip of the mountain, this ski resort offers about 25 km of slopes.
Austria
Gerlitzen in Villach: Family-friendly ski resort with 45 km of slopes located at the Ossiacher See and a 360 degree panorama view. There are no less than 14 ski huts in this area.
Nassfeld -Hermagor: a very beautiful, modern and well cared ski area that stretches from 1300 to 2000 metres. The area has a surprising size of more than 100 km of slopes, suitable for both skiers and snowboarders.
